Incorporating the rules and conditions governing the use of the AI Usage Classifications™
The AI Usage Classifications™ Code of Practice (the Code) establishes the binding rules, standards, and obligations that apply to all Licensees authorised to use the AI Usage Classifications™ (the Classifications). It exists to ensure the Classifications are applied with integrity, consistency, and in a manner that supports trust, transparency, and responsible AI disclosure.
The Code applies to all individuals, organisations, and entities that have been granted a licence by AIUC Global Pty Ltd (the Licensor) to use the AI Usage Classifications™ in any context.
Subject to compliance with this Code and payment of applicable fees (if any), the Licensor grants the Licensee a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Classifications and associated Badges for the purposes of classifying artefacts, content, and products generated, created, designed, developed, or executed by the Licensee.
Licensees may use the Classifications to: disclose the level of AI involvement in any artefact; display the relevant Badge in accordance with the technical specifications provided by the Licensor; and reference the Classification in associated documentation, websites, or communications.
Licensees must not: modify, alter, or recreate the Badges or Classification names; apply a Classification that does not accurately reflect the level of AI involvement; use the Classifications in a misleading or deceptive manner; sub-license, transfer, or assign the right to use the Classifications without prior written consent from the Licensor; or use the Classifications in a manner that brings the Licensor or the standard into disrepute.
Licensees must use the AIUC Navigator or apply the Classification definitions in good faith to select the most accurate Classification for each artefact. When in doubt, Licensees should err on the side of declaring greater AI involvement rather than less.
Badges must be used in the format provided by the Licensor. Licensees must not resize Badges in a manner that compromises legibility; apply colour filters, overlays, or other visual effects; combine Badges with other marks in a way that implies endorsement without written consent; or place Badges in locations that are misleading about which artefact or element they classify.
When releasing any document in an editable format (including .docx, .pptx, .xlsx), Licensees must apply the Uncontrolled modifier to the applicable Classification Badge.
Licensees must maintain records of Classification decisions for all artefacts where a Badge has been applied, retained for a minimum of three (3) years from the date of Classification. Professional Licensees are required to use the AIUC Navigator to record Classifications.
The Licensor reserves the right to conduct periodic audits. Licensees must cooperate fully with any audit process, including providing access to classification records, sample artefacts, and relevant documentation.
A breach of this Code includes misclassification of artefacts (whether intentional or negligent); modification of Badges or Classification names; failure to apply the Uncontrolled modifier when required; or non-cooperation with an audit.
Upon identification of a breach, the Licensor may issue a formal warning and require remediation, suspend the Licensee's right to use the Classifications, terminate the licence and remove the Licensee from the Public Register, or pursue legal action for intellectual property infringement.
All intellectual property rights in the AI Usage Classifications™, including the Badges, Classification names, definitions, and associated materials, remain the exclusive property of AIUC Global Pty Ltd. The licence granted under this Code does not transfer any ownership rights to the Licensee.
Authorised resellers and ambassadors operate under separate agreements. Any organisation or individual wishing to promote, resell, or represent the Classifications must obtain prior written approval from AIUC Global Pty Ltd.
The Licensor reserves the right to amend this Code at any time. Continued use of the Classifications following notification of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Code.
This Code is governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia.
